Psy.D, Clinician

I hope to help clients throughout their journey and not solely focus on their destination

Chelsea Torres, Psy.D., CMPC, LPC earned her Psy.D. in Counseling Psychology at Felician University and is currently licensed in both New Jersey and New York to practice psychology. Additionally, Dr. Torres is a certified mental performance consultant (CMPC) from the Association of Applied Sport Psychology (AASP).

Dr. Torres has presented research at local conferences such as NJCA and LMHANJ and previously taught courses in the Undergraduate Psychology Department at Felician University. Dr. Torres' clinical experience includes working with a variety of clients struggling with issues such as addiction, behavioral disorders, anxiety, and depression, through group and individual therapy. She has experience in several settings, including medical settings, working with college student athletes in a University Sport Psychology setting, as well as an adolescent long-term residential facility that treats both substance abuse and mental health disorders. Most recently, Dr. Torres completed her post-doctoral training as a member of the Rutgers Sports & Behavioral Health team, at Rutgers University New Brunswick, conducting research as well as working with student athletes and athletic teams.

In her work, Dr. Torres draws primarily from cognitive behavioral theory and incorporates mindfulness-based interventions to meet clients' specific needs. She believes that therapy is an essential way to understand how patterns of thinking can affect individuals' emotional and physical bodies. Gaining insight of the internal self, and learning the mind-body connection, guides us to acknowledge and accept our actions, reactions, and behaviors.
